'Avengers: Endgame' Spoilers: Toy Leak May Reveal Which Heroes Time Travel
Time travel has been at the center of multiple Avengers: Endgame fan theories and leaks, and a new toy leak may have revealed exactly who will be doing the time traveling. With so many characters appearing in Endgame, splitting everyone up on missions may prove to be the best option (though it didn’t exactly work in Infinity War), and the latest leaked figurine set may tease one of the most important missions in Avengers: Endgame.
The leaked toy pictures reveal Black Widow and Hawkeye wearing silver suits with the Avengers logo proudly in view. The picture is blurry, but it’s clear enough that you can see the pair are packaged together inside a Hasbro Legends collection box. Between them are the figurine heads of Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Nebula — presumably so you can swap those heads onto the two full figurines.
Does this mean that these are the five heroes who will be time travelling in Endgame?
Though Hawkeye didn’t appear in Infinity War, his presence in the trailer might mean he survived Thanos’ snap. Alternately, his specific location in the trailer may already have hinted at his whereabouts (though the key is likely when he is, not where he is). Other heroes, like Captain America, also survived the snap, but perhaps he’s leading another mission. The whole team doesn’t need to time travel, right? Captain America could be figuring things out in the present while the rest are in the past.
Captain Marvel, who’s expected to play a big role in Avengers: Endgame is also missing from this toy set. Then again, we already know that she has the ability to time travel thanks to a leak straight from Nick Fury himself. So perhaps she doesn’t need a special suit like the other Avengers.
Inverse is posing a few theories of its own with Inverse String Theory, ahead of the premiere of Avengers: Endgame.
Another leaked toy set revealed Iron Man in a white suit, though the suit still came with the classic red and yellow helmet. One of the reasons for the new suit could be because his original suit was irreparably damaged during the Battle of Titan. If Tony’s white suit was designed first, it explains why it looks a bit different than the others. Of course, this idea is working under the knowledge that Iron Man might only has one suit in the film, but there’s no reason he can’t have more than one.
Tony may have designed his new suit and the suits of his potential time traveling companions specifically so that it could withstand time travel and movement within the Quantum Realm. After all, the suits Black Widow and Hawkeye are wearing look very similar to the ones designed and used by Hank Pym when venturing into the Quantum Realm to save his wife Janet in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Nebula is the wildcard in the group because she’s relatively new to the Avengers — the Endgame trailer does show her working on something with Tony. However, being a part of the time traveling mission makes sense because out of everyone, her vendetta against Thanos is particularly personal. Not only has Nebula hated Thanos for a long time, but he also tortured her and then killed her sister Gamora in Infinity War. So if there’s anyone who’s willing to do whatever it takes to defeat him, it’s Nebula.
However, as these leaked toys seem to suggest, it will take an entire team of heroes to beat Thanos and undo the Decimation in Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Engame will be in theaters April 26, 2019.
