'Future Man' Season 3 Release Date, Trailer, Renewal, Cast, Plot, and More

Future Man might be both the smartest and dumbest show on Hulu all at once. The original sci-fi series from the minds of Seth Rogen and his long-time writing partner Evan Golberg released its second season back in January 2019. So when can we expect to see Future Man Season 3 hit Hulu?

Here’s everything we know about the Future Man Season 3 release date, plot, cast, and more.

Has Future Man been renewed for Season 3?

Yes! Deadline reported on April 9 that Future Man would return to Hulu for a third and final season.

When is the Future Man Season 3 release date?

We still don’t know for sure, and it’s unclear when production on Season 3 will begin. However, considering the 14-month gap between Seasons 1 (November 2017) and 2 (January 2019), you probably shouldn’t expect to see Future Man’s return until at least March 2020.

Is there a Future Man Season 3 trailer?

Not yet. The first Future Man Season 2 teaser trailer hit in November 2018, followed by a full trailer a month later in December. So you probably shouldn’t expect to see any Season 3 trailers until a couple months before the actual release date.

What’s the plot of Future Man Season 3

Assuming the show gets renewed, Future Man’s co-creators Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir have some ideas. Speaking to Metro, the two explained that after parodying The Terminator in Season 1 and Mad Max in Season 2, Season 3 could turn to another classic sci-fi series: Back to the Future.

“We actually have a pretty good idea of how the entire structure of next season might go if we get another season,” Hunter said. “We’ve always leaned heavily into the nostalgia of some of our favorite sci-fi movies and TV shows, the ones that we’ve grown up with. Back to the Future is one of the big ones. So we might just follow that trilogy and spend some time in the Old West next season. Who knows?”

It sounds like as soon as the Future Man team gets approval they’ll be ready to go.

“We’re ready to go,” Shaffir said. “We have some ideas and we’re ready to keep the train running.”

Who’s in the Cast for Future Man Season 3?

According to Deadline, the show’s three stars (Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe, and Derek Wilson) will all return. Beyond that it’s unclear who else might make a comeback. Haley Joel Osment’s Season 2 villain Stu Camillo is pretty much dead, but that doesn’t mean he could come back in an alternate reality or another trip to the past. Seth Rogen also appeared at the end of Season 2 as Susan so perhaps he’ll return as well.

Future Man Season 2 is streaming on Hulu now.
