'Smash Ultimate' Tier List: New Best Characters Ranking Adds Pichu, Olimar
It also downgrades Richter and Simon Belmont.
Who are the best characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? We’ve already seen early tier lists from two of the world’s top players attempt to answer that question. Now, another well-known Smasher is chiming in with some character rankings of their own, and their list packs a few surprises.
Joseph “Seagull Joe” Raucher is a highly ranked player when it comes to Smash Bros Wii U, the previous iteration of the series. He’s considered one of the best Wolf players in the world, and ranked third overall for Wii U in the combined region of Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. However, he’s best known for his surprise victory over the world’s top Smash Bros Wii U player, ZeRo, in a 2018 tournament.
Seagull Joe’s Smash Bros. Ultimate tier list confirms a lot of what we’ve seen so far, placing classic fighters like Pikachu and Peach in the top tier alongside powerful newcomers like Chrom and Inkling. However, he also puts Pichu, Fox, and Olimar in the top tier, suggesting those characters might be worth a second look if you’ve already written them off.
The tier list also mentions Richter and Simon Belmont, two new characters who often place highly. However, Seagull Joe states that while both fighters are powerful, they have “one glaring weakness” that keeps them out of the top tier.
