'The Flash' Season 5 Spoilers: Classic Villain, the Weather Wizard, Returns
A major villain from The Flash Season 1 might make a triumphant return in Season 5, and it’s the guy that controls the weather. Remember him? Maybe not, because Mark Mardon, aka the Weather Wizard, hasn’t been around in a really long time. But now we know he’s been rotting in a cell all this time.
“All Doll’d Up” aired Tuesday night, and The CW released a bonus scene shortly after that confirms what happened to Rag Doll after Ralph Dibny swallowed him whole.
“Alone … powerless,” Rag Doll says to himself after being shoved into his cell at Iron Heights. But soon a voice calls out from the cell next to his. “You’re not alone,” they say. “Welcome to meta-max.”
The voice identifies itself as “Mardon” — though it sounds like he says “Martin” — and goes on to drop several weather-related hints, saying, “There’s lightning coming. And when it gets here, and I promise it will, the best place to be is in the eye of the storm … with me.”
So it’s pretty clear we’re dealing with Mark Mardon, who Cisco dubbed Weather Wizard way back in Season 1.

Not to be confused with Clyde Mardon, the villain from the very first episode of The Flash ever who’s totally dead, Mark Mardon is Clyde’s bitter older brother with similar powers of atmokinesis, or weather control. But unlike Storm from X-Men, the Weather Wizard can control pretty much any element. So he can hurl lightning like the Flash, fire like Firestorm, and ice like Killer Frost, along with water manipulation.
He’s easily one of the most overpowered characters in the Arrowverse, and we totally forgot he was even alive.
The Flash has a habit of killing off tangential meta-humans pretty frequently. Eobard Thawne killed more than his fair share of metas in Season 1, and DeVoe’s entire plan involved killing metas in Season 5. We haven’t even seen Mardon since he teamed up with Hartley Rathaway, Nimbus, Bivolo, and Baez back in Season 2.
He’s been stuck in prison this whole time, but if The Flash is reminding us of his presence now, then it’s clear that he’s due for a breakout before the end of the season. Or maybe he’ll just be another one of Cicada’s meta-human victims? Only time will tell.
