'Fortnite' Loot Lake: Season 6 Map Reveals Shadow Stone Locations

Where to find all the biggest changes.

Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 6 is finally here, and as expected it brought some noticeable changes to the map. The new Fortnite map might not look too different from above, but once you dive in you’ll notice changes all around you, from the Shadow Stones hidden across the map to that giant floating island in Loot Lake. Use our map (at the bottom of the article) to find everything new in Fortnite Season 6.

The biggest change to the Fortnite Season 6 map, of course, is Loot Lake. The original, boring lake was turned to Jello earlier this month by a mysterious purple cube (yeah, this game is weird and we love it), and now the cube is back with a vengeance. It’s risen out of the water and carried the lake’s main island up with it, creating a giant vortex below.

You can land right on the floating island, which is full of treasure but also extremely dangerous since that’s where everyone seems to be headed. However, you can also check out the area underneath (also full of treasure and enemy players) and then catch an updraft that will carry you to the island. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like you can go through the vortex, at least not yet.

As for those Shadow Stones, they work similar to Hop Rocks but grant you invisibility and phasing powers instead. Pick one up by following the onscreen command. Then you’ll turn into a purple ghost for 45 seconds, giving you the ability to float around, phase through solid objects, and turn completely invisible while standing still. It’s a powerful weapon against enemies and also a lot of fun.

Developer Epic Games says there are plenty more spooky changes to discover in the Fortnite Season 6 map, and we’ll let you know as we find them. But, for now, here’s our visual guide to all the major changes in Season 6 (hint: the ghosts represent Shadow Stones).
