'Fantastic Beasts 2' Trailer Reveals Nagini in Her Human Form

Before Thanos came for the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War (the movie, at least), Harry Potter sought to destroy all of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes. And in the newest, final trailer for the prequel film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, one major Horcrux reveals its human origins.

On Tuesday, Warner Bros. released the third trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second film in the prequel Fantastic Beasts series and arriving in theaters on November 16. And in the middle of the trailer, the true identity of the mystery character played by Claudia Kim is unveiled to be Nagini, the loyal serpent killer of Lord Voldemort and his final Horcrux.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kim says that Crimes of Grindelwald will introduce Wizarding World fans to Nagini as a full-fledged character and not just an animalistic weapon.

“You’ve only seen her as a Horcrux,” Kim said “In this, she’s a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live. She wants to stay a human being and I think that’s a wonderful contrast to the character.”

Kim further explains that time is a crucial factor for Nagini in the film. Because, eventually, Nagini’s curse permanently changes her into a snake.

“She does feel sometimes it’s not controllable,” she said. “She is bound to transform at some point to a beast so she feels this pressure that the clock is ticking.”

Warner Bros. Pictures

Nagini was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when Voldemort sics her on a Muggle in the book’s opening chapter. She eventually racks up a body count that could rival Jason Voorhees, including, most famously, Professor Snape.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released on November 16.
