Fortnite: Battle Royale developer Epic Games released a statement on Friday morning saying that it had found a fix for a bug in the 5.40 update that was infuriating mobile users in particular with freezes and lags. Forums were flooded with posts from users complaining they couldn’t play the game at all.

Update: Epic Games released a patch on Friday afternoon and announced the news on Reddit. The patch should fix lag issues on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. So make sure you’re running the latest version of Fortnite and you should be good to go.

“We know that iOS performance is in a rough state, but we want to let you know that we’ve fixed the issues and are working on getting a patch out as soon as possible,” reads the statement, published to the company’s social media channels. “We’ll let you know as soon as we have an update for when the patch will go live.”

The update dropped early Thursday morning and unleashed a number of new features, including a new Limited Time Mode: The Getaway and a new epic rarity item Grappling Gun. But it still seems like most users trying to play on mobile devices (even over wifi) are having trouble. The top comment on Fortnite’s Reddit post was from a PC user saying they couldn’t run the game without lags as recently as late Friday morning.

If you’re still unable to play the game, GameRevolution identified a few potential fixes. Breaking out your old ethernet cable and hooking up to the internet directly may help with the lag issues, though that may not be an option on mobile devices. Updating your driver software could also help

Here’s hoping they get the patch shipped soon, the weekend is coming.
