Fortnite: Battle Royale data miners are at it again. A new feature for the game was found within its files, and if this one turns out to be true, it could be another set of in-game cosmetics for Epic Games to sell.
Data miner FNBRUnreleased tweeted a piece of game code that suggests hats and vehicle decorations are coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale. In the screenshot, there is a listing of “favorite” items such as loading screen, pickaxe, and spray with a certain identification number of the particular item right next to it. On that list are two lines of code for “hat” and “vehicledeco,” or vehicle decorations.
Another data miner, Siloxleaks, tweeted a second screenshot of the code and explained the data is sent by the game’s servers indicating a player’s favorite items. Now whether this will actually make it to the live game is only known for the time being by Epic, but this could mean that this is something it is looking into.
If hats and vehicle decorations do make it into Fortnite: Battle Royale, it could offer new features for players to spend money on. If Epic doesn’t want to have players feel like they’re being taken advantage of, the developer may instead give this away as freebies. The features could also be a temporary addition to the game linked to some event.
Fortnite: Battle Royale players will not know if they can dress up their in-game avatars with a fancy hat anytime soon. As the case with some of these leaks, Epic may not follow through with it.
One example of an in-game item Epic has yet to fully explore was the Backpacks. Although it released the Jetpack in Season 4 and just recently for the Fly Explosives LTM, there is still code for other kinds of backpacks to be used in the game, but have yet to be made public.
