Harry Potter Fan Film About Voldemort Is Absolutely Terrifying

"No past. No future."

Witness the birth of the Dark Mark in the final trailer for an upcoming fan film set in the Harry Potter universe all about Voldemort’s descent into evil while at Hogwarts.

Voldemort: Origin of the Heir looks to be an astonishingly high-quality fan film that examines Voldemort’s evolving psychology long before he became a creepy-looking, noseless demon hellbent on domination. His younger days were a simpler time of dueling other students in the library with vicious spells. The trailer presents mostly duels between different students with special effects on par with the official Warner Bros. movies.

Perhaps more remarkable than developing sets and spell effects that look like the real deal, Origin of the Heir also looks like it will offer a genuinely compelling story with intriguing characters. Aside from watching Percival Graves in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we’ve never really gotten a close look at very many Dark wizards in the Harry Potter universe. Even though this is non-canonical, it’s intriguing to see the handsome, charming Tom Riddle descending into the monster he’ll one day become.

It's hard to believe that a young man like this becomes Voldemort.

Tryangle Films

Origin of the Heir has been in development for quite some time, and Tryangle Films, the production studio behind the film, is very open that this is a non-commercial fan film. You’ll notice the bold disclaimers at the beginning and end of the trailer.

Amazingly, Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling allowing this thing to exist.

On its official site, Tryangle promises to expand the Potterverse with their own unique characters and stories: “Additional original characters will also be introduced in the film: not only the protagonist, the Heir of Slytherin, but also the other Hogwarts houses heirs.”

Riddle goes up against the Gryffindor heir, Grisha McLaggen, no doubt the grandmother or another relative of Cormac McLaggen from the books.

It’s almost a shame that this film is 100 percent non-canonical, because it looks like it’ll be a wild ride.

Voldemort: Origin of the Heir will be released January 13, 2018.
