Nobody Hates the Porgs in 'The Last Jedi' More Than BB-8

CBS

Do you even remember BB-8, the cute mascot of The Force Awakens? With all the responses, both positive and negative, to The Last Jedi’s porgs, the droid probably hasn’t been on your mind lately. And as it turns out, that comes with a cost.

On Tuesday, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert began with a video showing the how BB-8’s is dealing with being overshadowed as the cute new thing in Star Wars. As R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” plays in the background, BB-8 listens to talk show hosts rave about the hamster-birds, and look at magazines showing porgs to be the next big thing. A dejected BB-8 then turns to drink to reckon with being upstaged.

Porgs are the talk of the town right now, but that could always change when The Last Jedi](https://www.inverse.com/topic/star-wars-the-last-jedi) hits theaters. While they’re probably only going to be used as “comic relief,” and as a source of food, BB-8’s going to be helping Poe Dameron fight against the First Order, and likely isn’t going to be eaten. Fans will have to decide for themselves which is more worthy of their love, or if they should pay more attention to the film’s Pokemon-like ice foxes, instead.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out in US theaters on December 15.
