‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ Trailer Has Even Crazier Jaegers
Even the Kaiju have evolved.
The new Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer offers a closer look at the devasting evolution of the Kaiju 10 years after the first movie — and the totally badass technological advancement that a new generation of Jaeger pilots will wield against them.
Like in the first, each Jaeger brings some its own unique weapons and upgrades.
Gypsy Avenger, spiritual successor to Pacific Rim’s Gypsy Danger, comes with a new gravity sling that can hurl buildings and cars.
Saber Athena, the speediest and “most advanced,” according to New York Comic Con panelists, wields two plasma swords.
The heavier Titan Redeemer shoots a “ball of death” from one arm.
But easily the coolest is Guardian Bravo, which uses a graphene arc whip in battle.
Also featured is Scrapper, a Jaeger that’s been slapped together from bootleg parts.
John Boyega joins the franchise as Jake Pentecost, son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost from the first Pacific Rim. Jake will rise from a life of crime — and live in a pretty sweet “half-mansion” to become the leader of a new generation of younger Jaeger pilots that will fend off an evolved group of new Jaeger threats.
Pacific Rim: Uprising will be released March 23, 2018.
