New 'Deadpool 2' Photos Show Josh Brolin's Cable Having a Hard Time

20th Century Fox

Deadpool fans have known for a while that the gruff cyborg Cable is going to give the Merc With a Mouth grief in the upcoming sequel, but before that happens, the mutant is probably going to need to travel back in time. See, Cable is actually from the future, and if new set photos are anything to go by, it looks like Josh Brolin’s time-traveling adventure will have a serious Terminator vibe and won’t exactly be smooth sailing.

The set photos, which you can see at Just Jared, show Brolin wearing a white, skin-tight suit with a couple metal bits. The texture kind of resembles a white version of the infamous Green Lantern suit that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds wore in the critically panned movie, a comparison that Deadpool 2 will either make an explicit, meta-reference to or avoid like the plague. Brolin’s pushing around a shopping cart full of guns and supplies, and in one picture he has his hands up. He looks worse for wear.

It seems likely (although unconfirmed) that this scene is when Cable arrives in the present. Brolin’s minimalist, skin-tight costume and general lack of equipment seems reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s arrival in 1984’s The Terminator. Granted, Schwarzenegger was buck-ass naked, but maybe Cable’s time travel tech is slightly more advanced.
