A triumphant tribute to the life of Carrie Fisher provided a new glimpse of General Leia on the set of The Last Jedi. But even that exciting moment was downplayed by a new video at Thursday’s Star Wars Celebration panel exhibiting the late Fisher’s extraordinary wit, humor, and talent.
After George Lucas left the stage alongside host Warwick Davis at Thursday’s 40 Years of Star Wars Panel, Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, emerged to kick off a tribute to her late mother. A moving speech from Lourd was followed by an almost 5-minute video of footage from Fisher’s time on the set of Star Wars and beyond.
“Carrie is an amazing and unique person,” said Harrison Ford, who portrayed Han Solo alongside Fisher’s Leia in Star Wars. “She’s got an incredible intellect, real courage, real gall.”
The tribute video was followed up by a live performance from famed Star Wars composer John Williams, which started off with the beautiful “Princess Leia’s Theme.”
