Cat Jarman

Dr. Cat Jarman is an archaeologist specializing in the Viking Age and bioarchaeology. She uses forensic techniques like isotope analysis, carbon dating, and DNA analysis on human remains and ancient artifacts to untangle the unique experiences of past people from broader historical narratives. Jarman directs archaeological projects around the world, including Viking Age sites in England and Ukraine. Her Sunday Times bestseller River Kings about connections between Vikings in the west and the Silk Roads was the Times' History Book of the Year in 2021. She was previously a senior advisor on academic content for the new Museum of the Viking Age in Oslo and frequently works as a presenter, expert contributor, and historical consultant for TV and computer games.
