Be Like Luke Skywalker and Watch Your Own 'Star Wars' Binary Sunset on YouTube

Learn the ways of The Force and become a Jedi like your father from the comfort of your own home.

by Sean Hutchinson

Do you want to watch one of the most gorgeous scenes from the original Star Wars movie? Well, you’re in luck. YouTube user BB-8 Awakens has recreated the iconic binary sunset scene on Tatooine from A New Hope for your YouTube-viewing pleasure. It’s even synced up to an extended version of John Williams’ “Binary Sunset/The Force Theme” so you can have the moment play out over a few minutes instead of the brief clip seen in the movie.

Sit back, relax, and take it all in below:

For what it’s worth, that music matched with this image should still give any self-respecting Star Wars fan the chills. Now, instead of watching Mark Hamill ponder learning the ways of the Force and becoming a Jedi like his father — oh, and the brutal murder of his aunt and uncle at the hands of the Empire — you can do that too. Whatever gets you motivated.

While we like this video just because of the goosebumps it gives, we still wish this could somehow be turned into a VR experience. Baby steps, we suppose. Somebody needs to tell the virtual reality whizzes at Lucasfilm’s ILMxLab to get on this pronto. They’ve already messed around with Star Wars-related VR on Facebook, and recently launched an immersive experience for Google Cardboard. Now, it’s up to them to make this VR binary sunset happen.

Until then, throw this on during your Christmas parties when your Yule log videos run out.

Oh, and here’s a sped-up version:
