Oregon Judge Rules Weed Doesn't Smell Bad

It's not a nuisance when it's legal.

The Oregon Court of Appeals blew minds Wednesday when it further legalized marijuana by ruling that “unpleasant” was a mischaracterization of the drug’s smell. Being downwind is no longer a nuisance — not legally anyway.

Oregon Live reports that the court refused to classify a sweet whiff of weed with “physically offensive” odors of rotten eggs and raw sewage because some people “undoubtedly find the scent pleasing.”

The court’s common sense ruling came as the court threw out the second-degree criminal mischief conviction of Jared William Lang, who was busted in 2012 after his neighbors complained about the scent coming from his room. The Jareds of the world no longer have to worry about that sort of thing. They can just chill.
