'The Order' Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, and Everything to Know
If you can’t get enough of supernatural creatures and secret societies, then you probably enjoyed The Order on Netflix. Jack Morton sets out to get a spot in a secret society on a college campus, only to find himself involved in much more than he could have imagined. With a major cliffhanger to end its first season, viewers are likely hoping for the series to be renewed to find out what happens next.
Netflix has yet to make an announcement, but until then, read on for everything we know so far about The Order Season 2, and keep checking back for new information.
Spoilers for The Order Season 1 below.
What Happened at the End of The Order Season 1?
When Jack arrives at Belgrave University in the series premiere, he has one goal. He wants to get into the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, avenge his mother’s death, and take down the man responsible: his father, Edward Coventry.
Over the course of the first season, Jack becomes entangled in not one but two secret societies: the Hermetic Order, where he learns magic, and the Knights of Saint Christopher, a group of werewolves.
By the end of Season 1, Jack is a werewolf, which should mean he’s out of the Hermetic Order, but he and the other werewolves also helped the Order defeat Edward Coventry.
Rather than choose sides, Jack wants to be independent. Instead, the Order seemingly makes the choice for him — and the rest of the Knights. Members of the Order takes the memories of the werewolves. Jack’s love interest, Alyssa, takes his, and as she walks away, he not only doesn’t know her name, but he doesn’t know his own, either.
Will There Be an Order Season 2?
Netflix has yet to renew the series, but after the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, fans definitely want one.
That cliffhanger may have also been strategic. For example, The Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman also ended the first season of his series with a cliffhanger and told The Hollywood Reporter, “You really want people to go into the off-season saying, ‘I gotta know what happened.’”
If that was also the goal for The Order showrunner Dennis Heaton, he certainly accomplished it, and now viewers are hoping for good news about the series’ future.
When Is The Order Season 2 Release Date?
First, the series has to be renewed. Then, it will depend on when Season 2 goes into production, as well as any post-production work. It will likely be at least a year, so you probably shouldn’t expect new episodes until summer 2020.
When Will an Order Season 2 Trailer Be Released?
If the series is renewed, it’s likely that Netflix will do what it’s done with some of its other series and release a teaser with the news. There may also be other teasers to announce the season going into production and the Season 2 release date.
The Season 1 trailer was released on February 21, two weeks before the episodes dropped. It’s likely that Netflix will follow the same pattern for Season 2.
How Many Episodes Will There Be in The Order Season 2?
There were 10 episodes in Season 1. It’s likely that the episode count will remain the same for a potential second season.
What Will the Order Season 2 Plot Be?
So far, we can only speculate where the series can go if it is picked up for another season. The most pressing matter is, of course, seeing how everyone whose mind was wiped was affected. Is Jack the only one who doesn’t know his own name, or are the other werewolves in a similar position?
Is that memory wipe permanent, or will Jack perhaps slowly remember who he is? If Jack’s memory does begin to come back, how much will he remember? Could he begin to look for answers about his mother’s death again, as well as try to figure out what happened to his grandfather?
It’s also possible that new characters could be brought into the world of the Order. After all, there’s always the chance for new acolytes, and that could always lead to Jack looking for answers as he sees new people going through what he already did — without realizing it.
Who Will Be in The Order Season 2 Cast?
We don’t know yet. Presumably most of the Season 1 cast could return for a potential second season. That includes Jake Manley (Jack), Sarah Grey (Alyssa), Adam DiMarco (Randall), Katharine Isabelle (Vera), Thomas Elms (Hamish), and Devery Jacobs (Lilith).
The Order Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
