**Step 1:**As we know, a whole of something is equal to 100%. In this case, we want to find what 1% of 282 is. We know that 100% of 282 is, well, just 282.**Step 2:**If 100% of 282 is 282, then we can get 1% of 282 by dividing it by 100. Let's do 282 / 100. This is equal to 2.82. Now we know that 1% is 2.82.**Step 3:**Now that we know what 1% of 282 is, we just need to multiply it by 1 to get our solution! 2.82 times 1 = 2.82. That's all there is to it!
