'Game of Thones' Season 8 Spoilers, Plot: Easter Egg Spells Doom for Jaime
HBO released the first official photos from Game of Thrones Season 8 on Wednesday, and one image in particular seemed to contain a huge clue about the show’s future. Jaime Lannister, dressed in what looked like Northern armor, sparked rumors that he could join up with Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, but it turns out the Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers hidden in this single picture of Jaime go even deeper — and they may hint at a grim future for the beloved character.
As Game of Thrones fans on Reddit quickly pointed out, Jaime’s armor isn’t just some random Northern outfit; it’s a very close copy of the battle gear worn by Robb Stark earlier on the show (before he was murdered at the Red Wedding). The chest plating and shoulder guards in particular are nearly identical, though Jaime is still wearing the same patterned shirt we saw him in at the end of Season 7.
So what does this mean? Well, the obvious assumption is that Jaime will join up with the good guys in Game of Thrones Season 8, only to be betrayed and murdered similar to what happened to Robb. Could Cersei send an assassin to get revenge on her brother/lover for abandoning her? We definitely wouldn’t put it past her.
Regardless of the specifics, seeing Jaime in almost the exact same outfit as Robb doesn’t exactly inspire hope that his character will survive the show’s final season. We just hope that before he does die, Jaime has a chance to fulfill another prophecy and murder Cersei.
Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres April 14 on HBO.
