Watch Keanu Reeves Kill Someone With a Book in First 'John Wick 3' Trailer

John Wick can kill anyone with anything.

John Wick is tired. Somebody killed his first dog like two weeks ago, dragging him out of retirement for a series of murderous, vengeful rampages, all ending with his excommunication from the underground assassin ring after he killed Santino D’Antonio in the Continental. Now, as we learn in the trailer for John Wick 3, there’s a $14 million bounty on his head and he’s got one hour before he’s excommunicated from the assassin network and all of New York City tries to kill him. So Keanu has to get so resourceful he kills one guy by essentially curb-stomping him … with a book.

Lionsgate released the first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum on Thursday, and the scale of the carnage and violence has only escalated this time around in spectacular fashion. Chapter 3 takes place immediately after the second, shortly after the aforementioned murder of Santino D’Antonio. John has 60 minutes to run around rainy NYC with his dog, get patched up, and grab a few guns before he’s in for the fight of his life.

John’s most creative kill so far sees him literally “throw the book” at someone — or more accurately, shove it down their throat.

John gets revenge on this bookish assassin by essentially curb-stomping him.

It looks like John gets attacked by an assassin in some kind of library. So he shoves a leatherbound book into the guy’s mouth and smacks it. This move undoubtedly knocks all of the assassin’s teeth out in gruesome fashion, similar to a curb-stomp maneuver.

Other highlights in the trailer include John riding a horse and fending off assassins on motorcycles with swords, but Halle Berry also shows up as the only assassin in New York City that’s still on John’s side. And she brings a pair of Belgian Malinois attack dogs to help.

If this trailer is any indication, John Wick is going to need all the help he can get.

John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum will be released in theaters on May 17, 2018.
