Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are back with their first new song since 2012 and they’ve brought Ed “Motherfuckin’” Sheeran along for the ride. “Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)” is about and dedicated to Macklemore’s 2-month-old daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty.

“Growing Up” is incessantly sweet, with straightforward, rhyme-forcing lyrics and Macklemore admirably trying to sing. Sheeran mimics the sentiment in the chorus, but with stronger vocals. It’s not a great song, but let’s give the guy a break: It’s for his daughter. But, because it’s Macklemore, people have already made up their mind one way or the other. Fans of The Heist will love it and everyone else will call it garbage, whether or not they even listened.

Let’s see if anyone’s giving it a fair chance.

There you have it, nobody wants to change. Love him or hate him, Macklemore is back, and the Internet is still growing up.
