'Fortnite' Update: 3 Things to Expect in Next Patch

Big changes coming.

Monday is normally the day when Epic Games gives a tease of what’s coming in the next update for Fortnite: Battle Royale. While the company has yet to tweet or post about the update on the game’s subreddit, the update will likely happen Tuesday morning and include some interesting content.

Tuesday’s patch for Fortnite: Battle Royale will include new content and fixes to the game. One of the pieces will cause a big change to the game while the rest will be welcome additions for players.

Heavy Sniper Rifle

If there’s one weapon that can change the entire meta for Fornite: Battle Royale, it’s the Heavy Sniper Rifle. The legendary version of the weapon does 150 damage to a player’s body and 350 headshot damage. More importantly, it can shoot through walls while destroying them. Unlike rockets, missiles, and grenades that can take down walls, but only hurt hiding players with splash damage, this sniper rifle could likely take down opponents as they hide in a fort. Expect big changes on how elite players compete in Fortnite: Battle Royale matches, and a likely nerf by Epic in the coming weeks.

New Sniper Shootout LTM

Along with the new Heavy Sniper Rifle will be a new version of the Limited Time Mode, Sniper Shootout. This mode will have players only use sniper rifles and scoped assault rifles in a match. Great practice for those who want to be better from a distance, but be prepared for one-shot kills.

Double Barrel Shotgun Fix

Epic’s Fortnite Community Issues Trello board is where players can list problems they’re having with the game. An issue with the Double Barrel shotgun prevented it from playing any audio when the weapon was fired on the iOS and Switch version of the game. An update from the developer states the fix for this issue will go into effect with the next update.

Unless Epic has a reason to delay the next Fortnite: Battle Royale update, players will see the patch applied to the game Tuesday morning, typically at 4 a.m. Eastern.

Thursday, like Tuesday, is another day Epic updates the game, but with the Weekly Challenges. This week’s tasks are out and there’s one challenge that explains one of the mysteries of Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 5.
