Gotta hatch 'em all.

This year’s Water Festival started on June 7 and ends on June 21 at 4 p.m. Eastern. So while it’s been well underway, you still have a solid week to participate.

As with previous community events, players receive bonuses for particiapting. Catching any type of Water-type Pokémon during the event will produce 3x Stardust and eggs hatch with Double Candy and Stardust. However, there are no new Field Research tasks to complete.

Aside from the hatched Pokémon, players will also have a chance to encounter Kyogre, the legendary Water-type Pokémon.

Few of the Pokémon featured during the Water Festival are prominent in the current meta, which means this is mostly an event for completionists looking to fill out their Pokédex. But even if you don’t care for catching ‘em all it might still be worth going egg hunting just for the bonuses.

It never hurts to have extra items, and Pokémon you pick up along the way could become heavy hitters at some point in the future. After all, you never know what the meta will bring.
