'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 4 Returns Much Later This Summer

If you’re still reeling from the mid-season finale of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, you’ll have the rest of the summer to prepare for even more emotional punishment and character-driven strife. The spin-off zombie series, once a prequel now set after the main Walking Dead series, will return later this summer a few weeks before Labor Day weekend.

AMC announced on Monday that Fear the Walking Dead will resume the next half of Season 4 on Sunday, August 12 at 9 p.m. Eastern.

In last night’s mid-season finale, Alicia revealed her mother, Madison (Kim Dickens) has been been dead all season long. The show’s jumpy timelines (which are not unlike HBO’s Westworld right now) obfuscated the demise of the longtime Fear matriarch. This season also claimed the life of Nick (Frank Dillane), whose death came at the small hands of a young child of the Vultures. In the zombie apocalypse, there are worse ways to go out.

With Madison and Nick gone, only Alycia and Victor (Colman Domingo) are left alive out of the show’s original cast from Season 1. But fret not, as Fear the Walking Dead has worked overtime to introduce new characters like John (Garrett Dillahunt), Althea (Maggie Grace), Naomi (Jenna Elfman), and from The Walking Dead, Morgan (Lennie James). Together, with Luciana (Danai Garcia), Fear has a new crew of survivors still trying to carve out an existence.

Fear the Walking Dead will return on Sunday, August 12 at 9 p.m. Eastern on AMC.
