'Incredibles 2' Olympic Trailer: Who Has the Best Powers?

Ranking superpowers in any heroic fictional universe is pretty fun, but it’s probably the most fun in The Incredibles since every single character is a kind of sly homage to “real” comic book superheroes. Is Frozone’s ice powers better than Elastigirl’s flexibility? What about Violet’s awesome energy bubbles? Actually, let’s be honest, we all know who has the best powers in The Incredibles. It’s the baby, Jack-Jack.

On Wednesday, during the Winter Olympics, the latest trailer for The Incredibles 2 emerged, and in it we learned that Mr. Incredible has become a stay-at-home dad in order to make sure that Helen’s career as Elastigirl takes off properly. Even though it’s been 14 years since the first Incredibles was released, the new film seems to pick up just moments after its previous installment. Violet and Dash are still little kids, and baby Jack-Jack is still a tiny infant. And it’s very clear that he might be the most powerful of all the “supers.” Jack-Jack is like mash-up of the Hulk, Nightcrawler, and Superman insofar as he can morph into a scary monster, teleport at will, and shoot lasers out of his eyes.

In the original film, Jack-Jack’s powers were sort of a mystery throughout, and the family all sort of believed that it was possible he didn’t have any superpowers. Though, the coda of the film and the short film “Jack-Jack Attack,” proved otherwise. Now, in the sequel, it seems like Jack-Jack will have all the superpowers you can think of at the same time.

Parenting a super-baby has never been more difficult and hilarious, but will we have to wait another decade and a half for Jack-Jack to get his own movie?

The Incredibles 2 is out on June 15, 2018.
