HQ is arguably the hottest app at the moment. It’s the “latest millennial obsession.” Recently, it hit 1 million users in a single game. It’s “the best worst thing on the internet.” Some opine that it’s not even fun anymore. With so many desperate takes out there, it’s probably time for you to just play and decide for yourself, and come up with your own inevitable opinion. It’s fast and easy to sign up, but sometimes tough to win.

On paper, it’s easy. Answer 12 multiple-choice questions right in a row, and you win. The only problem is that it’s actually incredibly difficult, as the questions become increasingly tougher. You split the winnings ($2,000 to $10,000) with every other person who won, so it could be $8.89.

The questions are worded in such a way that it’s very easy to get tripped up and confused.

Extra lives are a saving grace in HQ, but they are incredibly hard to come by. Referring friends can only get you so far, and its charismatic main host/Mets fan Scott Rogowsky hasn’t dropped any gifts in a while.

But the good news is there’s a new trick popping up around the internet to get free extra lives in HQ, and it only takes about ten seconds.

1. Open your app to the main screen, where you can see the Balance and Weekly Rank boxes.

2. Take two fingers, and put one in each box.

3. Now slide up your screen an inch or two.

4. Do this repeatedly, potentially a few dozen times.

It’s going to feel silly, and you are going to feel like you are being pranked. But believe us, if you do it right you will suddenly be gifted an extra life, as if from the ether. Really!

There isn’t a ton of information about this trick yet, but it doesn’t seem to work on Android, nor can you do it two days in a row. But it is definitely possible to do it multiple times, and boy is it nice.

Soon we’ll all be walking away with $8.22 in winnings on a weekly basis, baby. We’ve reached out to HQ to see if they’ll finally comment on this hack. In the meantime, good luck!
