You Could Design the Hyperloop's Passenger Car
Elon Musk is looking for a few good designers.
Techno-Wonka Elon Musk is finally starting construction on a one-mile test track hyperloop next year, and somebody needs to build the passenger cars. Might as well be you.
Musk’s company Space X has announced a contest open to students and independent engineering teams to design the passenger cars. Considering the tube could supposedly transport passengers from L.A. to San Francisco in just 30 minutes at speeds up to 800 miles an hour, the pod designs are going to have to take into account some interesting physics. This is less about figuring out whether the loop needs a dining car and more about dealing with airflow, temperatures, safety features, and communication between pod and ground control. The prize hasn’t been announced but we can only hope it involves meeting some of the Oompa Loompas who presumably helped Musk get PayPal off the ground.
