Next Arrowverse Crossover Is Based on DC's Biggest Comic Ever

DC

Androids aren’t the weirdest thing the heroes of DC’s television universe have ever gone up against, but Nazi androids might just take the cake. The Flash, Green Arrow, Supergirl, and the Legends of Tomorrow will team up this fall for what’s expected to be the most epic crossover event yet in the DCTV universe, and a new “comic cover” for the event teases a parallel Earth that might be familiar to hardcore DC fans: Earth-X.

On Friday, DC released a special “cover cover” to pay homage to the upcoming crossover event. Taking inspiration from the Justice League of America and Justice Society of America crossovers DC released prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths, the blockbuster ‘80s comic that codified the modern multiverse, the cover depicts your favorite DCTV heroes getting ready to beat down their Earth-X counterparts.

First introduced in 1973’s Justice League of America #107 from DC Comics, Earth-X was a parallel Earth (something Arrowverse fans are pretty familiar with) from the Pre-Crisis multiverse. On Earth-X, Germany won World War II, resulting in the Nazi regime’s spread after Adolf Hitler’s scientists developed mind control technology.

It was later revealed that a computer had taken control from the Nazis and replaced all of their leaders and heroes with androids — hence the robot-looking body doubles of the DCTV heroes in the new poster.

The DCTV crossover event between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on The CW on November 27 and 28.
