Watch Alicia Vikander's Intense Training for 'Tomb Raider' Reboot

It’s one thing to play Tomb Raider. It’s another thing to become a Tomb Raider. In a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the Tomb Raider reboot, actress Alicia Vikander reveals her intense training that helped her completely transform into the one and only Lara Croft.

What Happened

On September 20, the same morning the trailer for Tomb Raider hit the web, Warner Bros. released a new behind-the-scenes YouTube video showing Vikander on the set of the movie as well as her super intense training. Watching Vikander’s muscles bulge from her frame is enough to make you feel awful about that doughnut from this morning.

What It Means

Besides showing Vikander’s dedication to becoming Lara Croft, it’s always fun for us normal, ugly people to see beautiful movie stars become hardcore badasses. The featurette does a lot to explain Vikander’s training; she gets props from legit action stars, like her co-star Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands), as well as the film’s stunt coordinators.

Vikander also admits that the bumps and bruises weren’t as bad as reaching hypothermia temperatures. It should be no surprise that cold water is one of the biggest elements Lara Croft will have to overcome.

There's no cheat code for this kind of hard work.
