Idris Elba and McConaughey‏ Tease 'Dark Tower' In-Character

In gunslinger fashion, Matthew McConaughey fled across the landscape of Twitter to promote his new movie, and Idris Elba followed. That’s right: Stephen King’s iconic characters Roland Deschain and the Man in Black took over the Twitter accounts of Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey today to low-key drop a few teasers for the upcoming The Dark Tower, including the announcement of a full trailer, due out tomorrow.

The first book in the series chronicles Roland’s pursuit of the Man in Black across the desert and a quest for the enigmatic Dark Tower; it looks like the film will follow suit. McConaughey tagged Elba and tweeted in-character right at high noon (fitting, considering the story’s protagonist is a renowned gunslinger), kicking off the following exchange:

McConaughey: “You want the Tower?”
Elba: “To find the tower is my purpose. I’m sworn.”
McConaughey: “Then as the world’s last crusader don’t break your promise … you’re closer to the Tower than you know.”
Elba: “You know nothing of me.”

The next response is where things get really interesting, because McConaughey dropped the following teaser video:

McConaughey’s Man in Black speaks about what’s coming now that the “war is over,” mainly saying things like, “the tower will fall.” Roland/Elba responded with a fairly threatening statement: “I do not kill with my gun. I kill with my heart.” Check out that teaser here:

The two trailers together offer glimpses of iconic scenes and items from The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger, most excitingly some killer gunplay from Elba’s Roland.

Dark Tower will be released on August 4, with a full trailer due out sometime tomorrow.
