Avengers: Infinity War won’t come out for another year, and right now few details have been released about the plot of this extremely expensive film. We do know that it involves some powerful superhero teamwork between the Avengers and the Guardians of Galaxy, who come together to fight the villain Thanos. The cast of the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has just provided Fandango with some insight into what the encounter between these two legendary groups will be like. Basically, it’ll be an arrogant showdown.

“We were so cocky,” Zoe Saldana (Gamora) said. “Deep down we were like, ‘We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy!’ But it was super exciting — the fact that they’re bringing every character in the Marvel universe together and that this supervillain is such a prominent figure amongst the Guardians of the Galaxy gives our level of importance quite a boost.” She noted that the meeting will take place in space, which gives the Guardians home-field advantage and an extra boost of hubris.

“We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy — we don’t get intimidated!” Chris Pratt (Peter Quill) added, though he apparently also told Fandango that he personally was a bit intimidated by Thor. “Chris Hemsworth, he’s so tall and handsome — I had to go home and really look myself in the mirror and say, ‘You know, there’s a possibility that you just might be one of those guys who mostly loves your wife but also kind of loves Chris Hemsworth a little bit too.’”

The Guardians. Do they look intimidated to you? Nah.

Dave Bautista (Drax) said that when this initial meeting occurs, the Guardians will be all together in a unit. It’s the setup for a truly perfect confrontation.

Great, now we have 13 torturous months to just imagine the cocky witticisms that will be tossed back and forth between the two crews. Thanks, guys.

Infinity War will be out in theaters on May 8, 2018.
