If you enjoyed xXx: Return of Xander Cage this winter, you have someone new to thank for the experience: none other than Mark Zuckerberg.

Did you know that Zuckerberg and Vin Diesel are BFFs? It’s true. Apparently, Diesel takes his buddy’s advice very seriously. He divulged in an interview on April 3 with The New York Times that Zuck’s guidance helped inspire him to bring back Xander Cage.

“I love him,” Diesel gushed, referring to Zuckerberg. “He probably encouraged me more than anyone else to return to Xander Cage. We were hanging out up at Facebook about two years ago, and I was excited about Fast 7. He said, ‘You know what movie I’d most like to see is the return of Xander Cage.’ It’s at a point where if Mark and I are together and if I quote a line from a character I played and I do it slightly wrong, he’ll correct me. It’s embarrassing!”

The xXx franchise’s return was suprising given the mess that was the last movie, and the small fact that Vin Diesel’s character had been killed off. Especially after a 12 year absence, the revival seemed to come out of nowhere.

It all makes sense now. Only the power of a friendship like Zuckerberg and Diesel’s could resuscitate a character who’s been dead for over a decade.

In recent years, fans had turned their attention to Vin Diesel’s ongoing Fast and Furious series, but apparently Zuckerberg never lost sight of what was important to him. Here’s hoping he tries his hand at bringing back a few other classic franchises, too.

Then again, this newest xXx installment isn’t doing too much better than xXx: State of the Union. Maybe Zuck would do better to keep these opinions to himself.
