Lego Set Spoils Big Bad From 'Wonder Woman'

Entertainment Weekly

Whenever big tentpole movies try to keep characters under wraps, the juiciest surprises inevitably get spoiled by the toys. Wonder Woman, which arrives in theaters on June 2, will pit the DC Comics icon Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) against Ares, the God of War. Fans know Ares will be the villain of the Patty Jenkins-directed action movie, but a new Lego set for the movie reveals the first look of Ares, albeit in Danish block form.

EW has the first reveal of the toy, “Wonder Woman Warrior Battle,” which shows a huge Lego humanoid of Ares. Based on the toy, Ares’s ancient armor is probably going to be sick and awesome (and, as the DCEU tends to do, all CGI). Besides a minifig that’s obviously Wonder Woman, the set also comes with a LEGO Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and his World War I-era plane.

It’s not wise to bank on toys for predicting events in the movie, but the really huge size of Ares hints that Wonder Woman will be up against something that is, quite literally, bigger than she can handle alone. But who knows if Trevor’s plane is enough to stop the God of War.

Check out the images of the toy set below. First, an image of the box:

Below, take a closer look at the toys. If you look really closely, you can even make out Wonder Woman’s invisible jet.

Wonder Woman, which will be the first DC superhero movie of the year, ahead of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, will arrive on June 2.
