'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Poster Is a Bunch of Mixtapes

Guardians of the Galaxy kicked off the Super Bowl with a new trailer highlighting all the members of the interstellar team. It seems like each member of the Guardians has their own mixtape, based on the new poster that Marvel shared later in the evening.

The poster is a stack of weathered old audio cassette tapes (How many of these things did Peter Quill have on him when he was abducted back in the Eighties?). Almost every member of the team has a mix, complete with cute art of their name. Star-Lord’s is fittingly retro while Drax’s has two little knives drawn with a bloody red pen.

Who’s missing?

Not everybody has a tape. Gamora’s sister Nebula is missing, as is the newcomer Mantis. There is one additional tape, however. It’s facing the opposite direction so we can’t see whatever art might’ve been on the cassette, but Kurt Russell’s character gets a mix to himself. His tape is probably a mystery on purpose, but we know that he’s playing Ego the Living Planet, aka Star-Lord’s dear old dad.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5 of this year. In the meantime, why not watch that Super Bowl trailer again?
