The 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Season 2 Trailer Has Arrived

Netflix's neon, high-pitched, and optimistic comedy 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' returns April 15

The trailer for Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, season 2, has just dropped, and the show looks just as frantic and funny as it was in its premiere season. In true “problematicTina Fey fashion, the trailer opens with a dismissive gender joke that barrels head-first into bits about dating and divorce.

This season, however, looks free of the racial jokes that worried viewers last season; maybe we’ve finally dropped that weird sub-plot where Jane Krakowski’s character was secretly Native American. Dong is also noticably absent from this season’s trailer, and so are the old-person-esque jokes about his name sounding like a euphemism for penis.

In an interesting move for the show, it appears Kimmy will finally attend therapy and begin analyzing what Jon Hamm’s character did to her more than a decade ago. Kimmy also meets several cute (white) men and Titus encourages her to get their numbers. We’re likely to see Kimmy develop further this season, as she discovers YouTube (using what looks like a library computer) and has her first run-in with cocaine.

Of course, Titus remains the high point of any Kimmy Schmidt-related media. Tituss Burgess, the actor who plays Kimmy’s hedonistic and easily-ruffled roommate, recently released his own brand of pinot noir, coinciding with his character’s ode to black penis from season one.
