'Assassin's Creed' Could've Had Multiplayer Years Ago

According to a new report, Ubisoft experimented with a multiplayer mode for its debut title.

During an industry event in Paris earlier this week, Ubisoft technical director Julien Merceron made an interesting confession — that the first Assassin’s Creed title was meant to ship with multiplayer (via Gamespot.)

According to Dualshockers, Merceron claimed that the debut Assassin’s Creed had a multiplayer mode that the studio eventually patched over; a glitch, though, could expose the buried mode.

Given that Assassin’s Creed has long been praised for its innovative multiplayer concepts — and the early games got plenty of backlash — file this under what could have been.
