Earlier this week, NASA quietly released a PDF version of its 1976 style guide, created in 1974 by designers Richard Danne and Bruce Blackburn. This is the guide that birthed the curvy red worm logo, which replaced the once and future NASA meatball for 17 years.

Is this PDF a response to the newly-launched Kickstarter that wants you to buy the previously unavailable guide as a $79 hardcover? NASA’s not saying explicitly, but it will let you know that the PDF contains “gems” like where to place uniform patches and swatches of NASA red.

Go relive the glory days of space exploration and sleek lines here.
