'Star Wars: Last Jedi' Trailer Release Confirmed by Mark Hamill

Luke Skywalker has brought balance to the Force. Again. It looks like Mark Hamill has confirmed when the next Last Jedi trailer will finally be released.

What Happened

On September 17, Mark Hamill responded to a fan on Twitter asking about when exactly a new trailer for The Last Jedi would appear. Hamill replied: “Watch Monday Night Football on Monday, October 9th — for no reason in particular.”

What It Means

Clearly, every self-respecting Star Wars fan in the world will heed the advice of Luke Skywalker and expect a Last Jedi trailer to hit on October 9. Though Hamill is being a little evasive with specifics, this looks like a tricky workaround for outright confirming the date for the new trailer.

What’s Next

The next Star Wars film has only had one trailer released so far. At this point in the run-up to the release of The Force Awakens, fans have already had two big trailers and several emotional breakdowns involving Han Solo and Chewie.

So far, the promo for The Last Jedi is playing things a little quieter. Sure, we know all about Porgs, Finn’s new friend, Rose, and Snoke’s relative height, but images from the actual film have yet to be truly seared into our brains.

What are fans hoping to see the most in the new Last Jedi trailer? It’s probably an even tie between Luke’s green lightsaber and some actual footage of Snoke walking around in that crazy robe of his.

Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi hits theaters everywhere on December 15.
