Ryan Reynolds Demands One Thing of an 'Avengers/Deadpool' Movie

The Merc with a Mouth wants to team up with the Avengers, and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has one demand to make it work: make it dirty.

“That sounds like a great idea but a very expensive idea,” Reynolds told Total Film when asked about the possibility of a Deadpool and Avengers crossover. “Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great. But it would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them go.”

And that’s where the problem comes in. Even if Disney and 20th Century Fox could put aside their differences and work together (they won’t), the Avengers franchise is pretty determined to maintain its mostly family-friendly exterior. Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark might drop a few clever one-liners and Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers might have a jokey euphemism for sex (“Do you two fondue?”), but they’re nowhere near the Merc with a Mouth’s skill level when it comes to dick jokes and obvious innuendo.

Plus, the Avengers generally have a no-kill policy, at least when it comes to humans. Deadpool’s all too happy to let heads roll.

An R-rated Avengers movie would be a hard sell — an impossible one, even. Disney’s got a reputation to uphold, after all, and the likelihood of the Mickey Mouse company ever allowing their superheroes to celebrate International Women’s Day in the same manner as Wade Wilson and Vanessa Carlysle seems, uh, pretty slim.

Best of luck to you dreamers, though, including Reynolds himself.
