'Deadpool 2' Has Found Its Creepy Irish Villain

Marvel Comics

We’ve known for months that Cable will join Deadpool, Negasonic, and Weasel in Deadpool 2, but no one was sure whom Fox would pick as the sequel’s villain. On Wednesday morning, news broke that Fox was looking to cast Jack Kesy (The Strain) as a “major villain.”

Since Deadpool’s original film was an origin story, his villain was personally connected to him becoming a superhero. Now that Wade has graduated into being a full-fledged superhuman, it makes sense that his next baddie might just be a jerk who doesn’t know who he is.

Deadline reports that “sources” point to Kesy playing Black Tom Cassidy, an Irish villain who typically appears in X-Men comics. Black Tom, a mutant whose name is actually Thomas Samuel Eamon Cassidy, first appeared in 1976 in an issue of Uncanny X-Men. His identifying features include the ability to control plant life and the fact that he’s super, super tight with fan favorite villain, Juggernaut.

God, comics are weird.

You remember. The mutant who launched a thousand memes? “I’m the Juggernaut, bitch.” Ring a bell? We have no confirmation that Juggernaut will join his best bro in Deadpool 2, but seeing Black Tom come to life might be exciting enough.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters in 2018.
