Humans Don't Live on Earth in 'Godzilla: Monster Planet'

In most monster movies, human beings have to deal with the destruction left in the wake of all the tail-swinging and fire-breathing action, but in the next Godzilla movie, humans will have finally wised up and moved away from Earth. The synopsis for the first anime Godzilla movie young man named Haruo is on board of the immigrant ship. His parents were killed by Godzilla right front of him when he was 4-years-old. Since then, he has been thinking about only going back to the earth and killing Godzilla for 20 years. It’s all been revealed and kaijus rule the world.

On Monday, io9 unearthed the translated-from-Japanese synopsis of Godzilla: Monster Planet. The report originally appeared on Slashfilm on March 23, and claims that the film will take place 20,000 years in the future. Just what is the average kaiju lifespan anyway? Will Godzilla be considered middle-aged? Either way, the gist of the movie boils down to this basic concept: humans leave Earth because there are too many monsters, and now, 20,000 years later decide they want to try out fighting monsters again. There’s an interstellar colony ship involved in all of this plot, some of the concept art for that ship can be seen at Slashfilm.

Apparently, one young, space-faring human from this space ship has a bone to pick with the big G. “A young man named Haruo is on board of the immigrant ship,” the synopsis reads. “His parents were killed by Godzilla right front of him when he was four, since then, he has been thinking about only going back to the earth and killing Godzilla for 20 years.”

Godzilla: Monster Planet, complete with a 20,000-year-old fire-breathing lizard will hit Netflix sometime late this year.
