James Gunn's Horror Film Is 'The Office' Meets 'Battle Royale'

Wow, the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' director is getting his hands dirty.

A new trailer for director James Gunn’s new horror film, The Belko Experiment, has arrived online just in time to scare the daylights out of 2017. Despite promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Gunn will be pulling double duty getting horror fans to line up for his nutso new film, which looks like a delicious, bloody blend of office sitcoms and murder orgies like Battle Royale and Cabin Fever.

So what’s the deal with The Belko Experiment? An office full of 80 white-collar pencil pushers in Bogata, Colombia is locked inside the high-rise in which they work until either one person is left alive or the folks running the “experiment” are forced to kill every single one of them. The film stars geek-beloved actors who are all well-versed in dry comedy, including Silicon Valley’s Josh Brener, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn, and Scrubs’s John C. McGinley.

In short, this film looks like a vicious ride, and the trailer feels a lot like the ones released for the American Funny Games remake, bombastic, horrifying, and laced with dark humor. Gunn wrote Belko’s script, and the film is directed by Greg McLean.

Check out the full second trailer below.

The Belko Experiment hits theaters on March 17.
