'Channel Zero: Candle Cove' Will Get More Twisted Every Week

Syfy

From the beginning, Syfy’s new Channel Zero has been presented at just the start of a growing anthology of modern urban horror, and it looks like the show will ratchet up the action every week.

Kids’ television shows aren’t typically known for creating monsters, but that’s why the new trailer for Candle Cove, the first season of the planned Channel Zero anthology, rises above the (white) noise.

So far, we’ve seen plenty of horrifying monsters: Monsters on fire, monsters in masks, monsters in burlap, monsters that look like kids, monsters that are kids, and a seriously sinister skeleton. But Candle Cove isn’t stopping there.

The trailer reveals some new monsters and clues us to the fact that whatever we think we know about Candle Cove is “just the beginning” of what’s about to go down in Bad Timesville, USA.

Candle Cove is based on a popular creepypasta (that is, online user-spun horror stories) by the same name. It’s mostly centered around a children’s television show that isn’t what it seems. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the Syfy show is going to expand upon this idea, bringing creatures and horrors into the world as it drives viewers to do terrible things.

Though we’ve seen most of these monsters in previous trailers and clips, there are a few new (if difficult to make out) additions. It’s getting hard to keep track of them all, which makes us think that Candle Cove is poised to up the ante week after week. No rest for the wicked, right?

Channel Zero premieres on Syfy on October 11 at 9/8c.
