The 'Stranger Things' Kids are Totally ‘80s Movie Experts

Facebook

Appropriately-timed after Netflix’s official announcement of Stranger Things Season 2, the kid cast of the supernatural sci-fi series took to Facebook Live to enjoy some 1980s trivia shenanigans.

Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and Natalia Dyer (Nancy) gathered around to make it abundantly clear that they have amazing chemistry in real life as well as on the show. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, gets a pass for missing out. He’s busy shooting the reboot of It.

So what did we learn about Stranger Things Season 2 from all this? Well, absolutely nothing. But we did learn some new tidbits about each actor and actress.

Matarazzo loves Matthew Perry and Pac-Man, Brown has seen Top Gun for some reason but not Rain Man, McLaughlin thinks Stretch Armstrong is “eighties” somehow, and they all absolutely love The Breakfast Club.

When all the 1980s trivia was done, they took questions from Facebook fans about shooting Season 1. It turns out series creators Matt and Ross Duffer had them prepare for the series by watching other ‘80s favorites like The Goonies, E.T., Stand By Me, Pretty in Pink, and Sixteen Candles. Those are some solid and obvious picks, considering they’re all huge influences on the feel of the show.

Check out the whole thing below:

Each cast member has a personal favorite episode as well. Matarazzo chose “Chapter 4: The Body,” where Dustin and the gang have to come to terms with Will’s potential death; Schnapp chose “Chapter 1: The Vanishing of Will Byers” because it’s probably the one with his most screen-time, as did Brown; Dyer singled out “Chapter 8: The Upside Down,” probably because she gets to kick some serious Demogorgon ass; while McLaughlin went the wildcard route and just said Chapters 5 through 8 were the best. We can’t disagree there.

Sadly, given the cast’s vocal talents, they also mentioned there probably won’t be a musical episode in the future for Stranger Things.

Stranger Things returns for Season 2 in 2017.
