A-Force Author Marguerite Bennett To Reboot 'Josie and the Pussycats' Comic

Archie Comics has been knocking it out of the park with their reboots of Archie and Jughead, and with Afterlife With Archie. The trend is expected to continue next month when a brand new Betty and Veronica hits comic store shelves. Now the publisher has announced a brand new Josie and the Pussycats comic set to debut this September. DC Bombshells and Marvel’s A-Force writer, Marguerite Bennett, along with Cameron DeOrdio will write the new series with art by Audrey Mok.

In a press release for the comic, Bennett wrote, “Josie and the Pussycats is zany, high-energy, hilarious, and utterly sincere. The book can’t launch soon enough.” This will be the first Josie and the Pussycats comic since 1994, and with Bennett on-board, the series should continue Archie Comics’ winning streak.

As writer for Marvel’s A-Force and DC Bombshells, Bennett is no stranger to fun, powerful female protagonists. Despite juggling several different characters in each of those books, the heroes’ personalities and strength always shine through. It’s exciting to see what will happen when Bennett brings her strong characterizations and humor to Josie, Melody, and Valeria as they rock-and-roll all around Riverdale.
