Converse gives Tyler, the Creator his second original sneaker

As hypebeasts flock to Travis Scott and Billie Eilish’s Nike sneakers, Tyler, the Creator is quietly building his own empire at subsidiary Converse. Five years after starting his partnership with the brand, Tyler is introducing what may be his most refined design yet: The Golf le Fleur 2.0 sneaker.

The upcoming shoe marks a new silhouette for Converse, drawing cues from its past releases with Tyler including a customizable Chuck 70 and a snakeskin Chuck 70 Low. Chunky yet minimalistic, the GLF 2.0 contrasts its woven canvas base with scalloped suede overlays. Its color-blocked design arrives in two variants, each of which is more muted than Tyler’s previous offerings.

Skate-ready — Like the artist’s inaugural Converse sneakers, the GLF 2.0 boasts a skate-worthy feel. Its chunky midsole comes texturized for durability, while an underlying pink outsole offers additional traction. The shoe’s low-top construction and two-tone upper only add to the skater effect with a design reminiscent of other trending silhouettes like Nike’s Dunk Low.

Wavy suede overlays sit atop the sneaker’s canvas base, turning up in two different color schemes. The first, called “Oil Green/Bison,” contrasts its olive green underlays with dark brown suede panels, matching its thick laces to the latter shade. “Curry/Copper Tan” covers the following iteration, which sees its tan base accented by muted orange suede. Hits of pink appear on both sneakers on piping near the toe box as well as on their outsoles and insoles.

The GLF 2.0’s upper does away with Tyler and Converse’s signature “fleur” design, instead flaunting a GOLF le FLEUR* boat motif on its tongue. The new branding seems to nod towards Tyler’s evolution as an artist and designer — his most recent tour and following music videos have seen Tyler onboard multiple ships. Inside the shoe, pink insoles bear the rapper’s “fleur” graphic for old times’ sake. A blue and white “Golf le Fleur” tag, dangling off each sneaker’s laces, finishes off its design.

GLF season — Both iterations of the GLF 2.0 will be available on June 9 at the Converse and Golf le Fleur websites, although limited quantities are up for grabs. Don’t stress if you miss out on the low top, though — while the GLF 2.0 is set to retail for $110, pairs from Tyler’s last Converse collaboration are currently reselling well below their own original price. You should be able to pick up the GLF 2.0, even after its release, without too much trouble.
