6. Hellboy (2019)

February 1 (IMDb TV)

Before you get too excited, this isn’t the Guillermo del Toro Hellboy. The 2019 adaptation was widely panned on release, but its fantastic sets and creature designs at least provide plenty of eye candy.

5. Misfits

February 1 (IMDb TV)

All five seasons of this British sci-fi series are now on IMDb TV. The show follows five teens who suddenly gain superpowers after being sentenced to community service. Misfits loses some steam toward the series’ end, but at least the first few seasons are worth a watch.

4. Reign of Fire

February 1

Sometimes you just need a little cheese. Reign of Fire is a fun mix of post-apocalyptic sci-fi and fantasy, even if it’s not quite as campy as a movie about modern-day soldiers fighting dragons ought to be.

3. Robocop (1987)

February 1

A movie with a name this silly shouldn’t be this good. Paul Verhoeven's Robocop is a satire of 1980s America, an examination of control and identity under capitalism, and a whole lot of hyper-violent fun.

2. The Fly (1986)

February 1

David Cronenberg’s The Fly is a gruesome remake of a 1958 sci-fi classic. Its intense body horror is just as hard to watch today as it was on release, thanks to the movie’s incredible and highly praised creature effects.
