If this month’s Game Pass lineup doesn’t impress you, nothing will. Killer roguelikes, a long-awaited sequel, and a handful of indie gems make August a great month for Xbox.

Curse of the Dead Gods

The excellent but slept-on roguelike dungeon-crawler Curse of the Dead Gods could get the attention it deserves when it hits Xbox Game Pass this month.

Dodgeball Academia

(August 5, Cloud/Console/PC)

Dodgeball Academia is a one-of-a-kind blend of frantic dodgeball and a full-fledged RPG. On top of all that, it looks darn pretty.

Katamari Damacy Reroll

(August 5, Cloud/Console/PC)

The best game ever about rolling the whole world into a ball hits Game Pass this month. Warning: The theme song will get stuck in your head.

Lumines Remastered

The hit PSP block puzzle game looks better than ever in the glorious 4K Lumines Remastered.

Skate & Skate 3

(August 5, Console/Cloud)

EA’s Skate series is a far more grounded skating sim than something like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. If mastering its tricky controls sounds more fun than pulling a 900 with a button press, Skate is for you.

Starmancer

(August 5, PC)

Space station management sim Starmancer hits Game Preview this month. If you want to see how you’d fare as an A.I. overlord, now’s your chance.

Art of Rally

From the creator of Absolute Drift, Art of Rally will have you drifting through its gorgeously stylized race tracks this month.

Hades

In the hell year that was 2020, a game about getting to go outside topped practically everyone’s year-end list. Now, Game Pass subscribers can play the gorgeous, tough-as-nails, and extremely horny Hades for free.
