After a brief delay, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker launches on December 7, ending the multi-year story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

Here are 6 essential items for your Endwalker prep list before the launch of FF14’s biggest expansion yet.

6. Clear Coils of Bahamut, Alexander, and Omega raids

Raids are some of FF14’s best content and great practice for the challenges ahead in Endwalker. Here’s what you should prioritize.

FF14 Director Naoki Yoshida specifically recommends playing the Bahamut, Alexander, and Omega raids before Endwalker, so there’s a good chance it’ll have some callbacks to their storylines.

Here are the quests to start each

The Binding Coil of Bahamut

Primal Awakening, obtained from Urianger in The Waking Sands

Alexander

Disarmed, obtained from Slowfix in Idyllshire

Omegascape

The Hunt for Omega, obtained from Wedge in Rhalgr’s Reach

5. Get ready for Endwalker’s new jobs

Reaper and Sage both start at level 70. Buying the best gear you can now will make the climb to Endwalker content easier.

For Reaper, the best level 70 gear is the Augmented Scaevan Maiming Set. For Sage, it’s the Augmented Scaevan Healing Set. You may already have these if you play a Dragoon or a healer.

You can purchase both sets from Enna in Rhalgr’s Reach. Just remember not to buy the belts; They won’t be usable in Endwalker.

4. Hit the next level

Don’t let your XP grinding go to waste.

Square Enix

This tip is more of a quick PSA. Because of a stat adjustment launching with Endwalker, your accumulated XP will be reset to zero. If you’re halfway to a new level, make sure you finish leveling before the expansion hits.

3. Get another Job to level 80

Now is a great time to diversify your character.

One of the many joys of FF14 is the ability to play every job on a single character. If you only have one job at level 80, there’s a very good reason to consider leveling another.

Square Enix

Yoshida says leveling will be quicker in Endwalker, so maxing out a second job will be easier. You may hit level 90 even before finishing the story, and a second job can soak up the extra XP.

2. Gear up for Endwalker content

As we learned in our Endwalker preview, even the first dungeon will kick your ass.

To give yourself a boost early on in Endwalker, you’ll want to have the best gear you can get. Unless you’ve been running high-end raids, that’s the item level 520 Cryptlurker set.

You can buy Cryptlurker gear from Aymark in Eulmore using Allagan Tomestones of Revelation. YoRHA Type-55 gear from The Tower at Paradigm’s Breach is also level 520 and can help fill in any gaps.

1. Finish the Shadowbringers Main Scenario Quests

The one thing you really need to do — because you can’t start Endwalker’s story otherwise.

To start the Endwalker story, you need to finish the final Main Scenario Quest of Shadowbringers, called Death Unto Dawn.

Square Enix

There’s no way to miss this if you’re following the MSQ in your quest log. It just might take a while if you’re not close to caught up yet, so start working toward it as soon as possible.
