You need to watch the most enchanting time-travel movie on Netflix ASAP

This thought-provoking sci-fi classic will sweep you off your feet.

Being in love with a time traveler is no easy feat, especially when that time traveler can’t control his own powers.

Most time-travel movies are understandably preoccupied with the past and the future.

But this underrated 2009 movie feels undeniably present — and it’s streaming now on Netflix.

Based on the bestselling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009) stars Rachel McAdams as Claire and Eric Bana as her time-traveling husband Henry.

Director Robert Schwentke (Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins) chronicles the ups and downs of the couple as they deal with Henry's sporadic and uncontrollable ability to travel through time

Unlike most time-travel movies, The Time Traveler’s Wife is much more grounded. Henry isn’t worried about breaking the space-time continuity, he’s more concerned about the fact that every time he travels through time he leaves his clothing behind.

The movie also explores the concept of free will. When Claire first meets Henry she’s still a child. She later wonders if she has any choice in the matter of their marriage. It’s a powerful and thought-provoking love story with a sci-fi twist.

HBO is currently adapting Time Traveler’s Wife into a new series, but the original film is streaming on Netflix until the end of August.
